Sequence stratigraphic filling model of the Cretaceous in the western Tabei Uplift, Tarim Basin, NW China

Abstract Cretaceous formation in the western Tabei Uplift is significant petroleum pay zone Tarim Basin, NW China. For complex relationship between tectonic movement and depositional environment, sequence stratigraphic filling model of whole has not been established yet. Using well logs seismic data this article, evolution process are interpreted involving paleo-uplift, sedimentary water-level. As a first-order sequence, subdivided into three second-order sequences, Shushanhe, Baxigai Bashijiqike Formation. Shushanhe Formation third-order KSQ1, KSQ2 KSQ3 upwards; considered as one single KSQ4; KSQ5, KSQ6 KSQ7 upwards. In early paleo-uplift was aquatic. From KSQ1 to KSQ3, water-level raised moved upwards gradually; raising faster than ascending. The accommodations these sequences increased. Lacustrine facies mudstones siltstones were onlap towards Xiqiu Paleo-uplift. end region subaqueous. KSQ4 easy steady, accommodation sustained. Delta system began prograde from depocenter distal slope paleo-uplift. high Paleo-uplift, dominated sediments fine grains for dynamic force. KSQ5 Formation, water turned regression, slowly reduced continually. Because progradation deltaic sandstones, downlap developed Exposed Early Paleogene, part truncated form top unconformable boundaries. Established provides important insights on characteristics turn exploration potential systems.
